ABOUT THE PROCESS
The sugarcane decaf process uses a natural compound that comes from sugarcane to gently remove caffeine from coffee. First, sugarcane molasses is fermented to create a food-safe compound also found in fruit and vinegar. The green coffee beans are lightly steamed to open them up, then washed with this solution, which targets and removes the caffeine while leaving most of the flavor behind. This process removes about 97% of the caffeine and is popular because it keeps the coffee tasting smooth, sweet, and true to its original character.
